While general imaging preparation involves several steps to ensure diagnostic accuracy, specific instructions regarding bowel preparation depend on the type of scan your physician has ordered. For CT scans, preparation often involves drinking oral contrast to highlight the bowel, and you may be asked to avoid food or drink for a few hours prior to the appointment.
For MRI exams, we focus on ensuring the highest image quality through the following steps:
- Fast if required: If intravenous contrast is necessary, you may be asked to avoid eating or drinking for a few hours beforehand.
- Verify implants: Our staff will check for pacemakers, metal fragments, or other implants that could interfere with the magnetic field.
- Wear appropriate clothing: Please wear comfortable, metal-free clothing without zippers, snaps, or underwire.
- Communicate concerns: If you experience claustrophobia or anxiety, please let us know so we can arrange for our spacious open MRI scanner.
Our team coordinates all preparation steps in advance to ensure a smooth experience. Once the exam is complete, our board-certified radiologists provide a 24–48 hour report turnaround, allowing you and your physician to move forward with confidence.
Results may vary based on individual patient conditions. Please consult with a healthcare professional for diagnosis and treatment advice.
